about

A double Dobro tune with my friend Kathy Barwick from California. She learned "Mace Bell's March," a very old old-time Texas tune that goes by a few names, from Tricia Spencer and Howard Rains, a fantastic musical duo with a huge repertoire of Kansas and Texas old time music. Kathy kicks off the tune at a slow tempo with sparse accompaniment, and then we give it more of a bouncy bluegrassy old-time stringband treatment. You'll hear Kathy on Dobro (panned left), me on Dobro (panned right), Chris Coole on guitar and clawhammer banjo, Tim O'Reilly on bass, and Ron Girouard on mandolin. Hope you enjoy it!
